VPS hosting and cloud hosting: what to choose and what is the difference?
VPS is a dedicated virtual server. In essence, it is a virtual environment with its own operating system – with dedicated RAM, CPU time and disc capacity. The user (VPS owner) can install on his virtual server the necessary software, make its configuration. Virtual server can serve as a platform for placing Web-sites. In this case, the site will not depend on the sites of neighbours on the physical server.
VPS client receives a virtual environment with dedicated space on a disc or SSD and bandwidth, but computing resources and RAM of the host are evenly distributed among all VPS.
VPS hosting has long been recognised as a way to help businesses reduce costs and improve operational efficiency. By isolating applications within a single virtual server, VPS provides a high level of privacy, security and control.
Indeed VPS reduces hardware costs and gives the ability to run multiple operating systems or software suites simultaneously on separate virtual servers, this solution does not scale well.
Cloud hosting is virtual machines (VMs) in the cloud or IaaS (infrastructure as a service). In this type of hosting, physical servers are clustered together and storage systems are combined into a storage area network (SAN).
Benefits of cloud hosting
- The site is simultaneously stored on multiple linked servers.

- More expensive than VPS.
