Hacked server, no security and corrupted backups resulting in data loss. The most unreliable hosting I’ve worked with. They failed to secure my server, lost all the data and in 3 days I got: “Since the backup is also corrupted, we can create a new server for you. You can start from scratch.”
I may speak about their servers and their operation because I was a VPS customer for over 1.5 years (with the “Enterprise” plan).
Although it’s not the worst I’ve experienced from them, occasionally (once every few months) my server was down for a few hours, which speaks something about their service.
BUT the final issue was THE WORST.
They ultimately admitted that they couldn’t even restore from their backups after my server went down for 3 days (!!!):
“Since the backup is also corrupted, we can create a new server for you. You can start from scratch.”
According to their Terms they have the following Obligations:
“- Service Provision: UltaHost shall provide the hosting services in a professional and competent manner, using reasonable skill and care. The UltaHost shall make reasonable efforts to ensure the availability, reliability, and security of its servers.
– Security Measures: UltaHost shall implement appropriate security measures to protect Customer data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. This includes but is not limited to the use of firewalls, encryption, and regular security audits.
– Technical Support: UltaHost shall provide technical support to the Customer 24/7 through various communication channels, such as email, live chat, or a dedicated support ticket system. The UltaHost will make reasonable efforts to promptly address and resolve any technical issues or concerns raised by the Customer.
– Data Backup: UltaHost shall regularly perform data backups to safeguard against potential data loss. In the event of data loss, UltaHost will make reasonable efforts to restore the lost data from the latest available backup.”
So, they failed to provide:
1. Security measures.
The server was hacked.
2. Technical Support
I received the message “We are working on your issue” for more than three days, but they never did. Since there was just one response each day, ALL OF THE REVIEWS ABOUT TIMELY ASSISTANCE HERE ARE FAKE. At last, they stated that they were powerless to stop their own server failure.
3. Data Backup.
They do not have a SINGLE backup of the server, they offered me to “start from scratch”, while they failed to safeguard the server.
Absolutely incompetency. That’s nonsense, but not a “hosting” company.
